The Simple Life

Alaska is cold and dark all winter, that is true. But there sure are lots of ways to have fun up here!

We made our own sports bar "Ray's" and watched the NFC-AFC Championships thanks to a big antenna and Gareth's super projector

it was pretty cold in there

Joe kept the woodstove going

Ray's is the ultimate man-cave!

And soon enough, just last night in fact, we went up the road to Ivory Jack's to see a big bluegrass benefit on behalf of a local musician...

Granny, you comin'

O What Fun!

Remember these little squirmy wormies?

Last winter we carried them in a sled. Now it's the other way around. Check it out!

SLED RIDE

These cute little furballs are strong, fast and eager to carry Simon and a passenger up and down the trails. They are in their first season and still learning the trails, and this coming weekend we're heading to the White Mountains for an overnight trip.

If anyone wants to come up and see what winter fun in Alaska is all about check this out!

Bike Commuting in Fairbanks in January

I don't recommend it. Especially if you have had to ride over frozen snowy trails for a several miles several days in a row with A TIRE THAT GOES FLAT AFTER THE FIRST MILE OR TWO OF YOUR RIDE. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Click below if you want to see that "wet Persian cat" look on my face (after like the seventh flat):

And Joe says he's getting to the bottom of why I'm getting all these flats. Stay tuned...
